- between 20 and 24 pages in first instance.
Entry fee: £18

Closing date: last posting 31 October, 2005.
Entries should be postmarked on or before that date.


The Competition will be judged in two stages.

The judges will select up to five manuscripts, to be published in pamphlet form as individual small collections.

Each of these first stage winners can then within one month submit an extended manuscript.
Depending on the judges' opinion, one of these submissions may be chosen as an overall winner, to be published as a full length collection.

The cash prize of £1,000 will be shared equally among all the winners.

* Simon Armitage, poet, dramatist, novelist and broadcaster. He has published nine books of poetry including The Universal Home Doctor (Faber 2004).
* Peter Sansom and Janet Fisher, co-directors of The Poetry Business.

MYELOMA AWARENESS OPEN POETRY COMPETITION 2004

 POEMS ON ANY SUBJECT and up to forty lines are invited for the first-ever Myeloma Awareness Poetry Competition, closing date 15th April 2004.  The final judge is Stewart Conn, formerly head of radio drama with BBC Scotland and currently Edinburgh’s Poet Laureate, whose  Stolen Light:  Selected Poems is published by Bloodaxe Books.

 Entries are £3 per poem.  Any profits will go towards a unique project called Bank On A Cure, the first comprehensive DNA bank for myeloma patients.
